Here are two simple rules which can make you look more athletic:

  • Eat six meals a day, approximately every three hours.
  • Get your muscles growing.

Now for the explanations.

Six meals a day
Usually when somebody tries to lose weight, she/he eats smaller meals or has fewer meals a day than usually. I’ll try to explain what happens when you do that, and why it is wrong.

When your meals are too small or if you eat them within a large time interval, your body will go into an “economic mode”. Your metabolism will slow down, to prevent catabolism (here it means “eating” own body to provide needed energy). Every meal that you eat after long period of time is split into two parts: a very small amount that is used to basic body functioning, and the other part which is transformed into emergency reserves - FAT. In this way, your body defends
itself, it can’t trust you to provide it with food when it needs it, and thinks that you are trying to starve it.

Get your muscles growing
Your body needs some energy just for support, this energy is called Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). If one would eat food with that amount of calories they wouldn’t gain or lose weight. Everything in your body burns energy: organs, fat and of course muscles. But muscles need a lot more energy than e.g. fat, and thats why one should increase its lean body mass to be able to
lose fat without the jojo effect.
